Bye Bye Paci - Night Two

Our Big Girl

No tears and straight to sleep! WOW! I never would have imagined this. She didn't ask for her paci or look for it. Jordan asked for her new lovey while watching Dora, and we rocked and sang some songs right before night night time. Headed to her room, found her lovey in the crib, snuggled up and 10 minutes later she was asleep. No crying, no tears, nothing. (Nap time today wasn't quite so easy, but we got there). I sure hope she is this good next week at nap time at school. Success. Side Note - this afternoon when we went into her room to change a diaper Jordan looked at me and said, "Paci All Gone. Paci Trash". Seriously - she completely gets it.

Bye Bye Paci - Night One

Yes, the back of her hair is that curly and tangly all the time.
Enjoying the morning outside in the yard.

She does not look like paci bye-bye was too traumatic this morning.

Not too bad. Slept all night until 7:30am and woke up happy. Only 20 minutes of crying for Paci and tantrum like screaming in her crib before she drifted off to sleep last night. MUCH better than I expected. We cut the top of her paci that she has been using and she was a bit intrigued that it was broken. She tried it in her mouth, but did not like it one bit. Jordan put the broken paci into the trash, but soon went looking for the extras that we store in the kitchen drawer with her utensils. And they were Bye Bye too. That was that. All Gone.
She picked out a pink elephant Lovey at Target earlier in the evening and asked for her lovey this morning, but the rules still apply. Lovey stays in the crib! We will see how Nap and Night Two go today.

Paci Bye-Bye.......and Dadda's Helper

Dadda's Helper

We have decided that it is time for our big girl to give up the Paci at nap time and bed time. When she turned about 13 months we removed the Paci from her all day routine, and limited it to only nap and bed time. She has done great with this, especially the past 6 months. Rarely does she ask us for the Paci and it stays in her bed. A great routine. Since Jordan will move to the Two Year Old class in August, we decided that it would be best to cut the Paci completely while she is still with the teachers as PofP that she knows and loves. This will not be an easy change for Jordan. We know it and the teachers know it too. The plan is to go cold turkey. Paci Bye-Bye. Trash. Big Girls do not need a Paci. All Gone. Mark and I have talked it up this week and I believe that Jordan knows it is coming. Wish us luck and hope for an easy transition. You think I need to get her teachers some extra special treats for helping us with this transition next week? Definitely. Friday Night Bye-Bye Paci Party!!

Happy Dadda Day

Jordan picked out a balloon at the store just for Daddy. And she gave it to him or brought it to him at least half a dozen times over the weekend. I think she really got the whole gift giving thing. "Dadda Balloon" and "Happy Daddy" were said numerous times. And all in the same weekend, Jordan is now showing her independence. She has an opinion on the shoes and socks that she wears. I got her some cheapy purple "water" shoes for when we play out side or go to the pool. At first she had no interest in them, but now all she wants to wear is her "purple shoes". Aw geez!! Jordan also has a habit of running in the house. She rarely walks. When she has something on her mind, she races through the house. Nothing is worth walking, it is all about running so she still has big wipe outs when she does not quite make the corners. No big bruises over the weekend, but there will definitely be more to come with her "fast feet".

Strep + Stomach Bug = Sad Toddler

Twenty three months old, and off to see Dr Sickler. Sad morning for Jordan, so I headed back to school to pick her up at 9am. Appointment with pediatrician at 11am. Stomach Bug - definitely - with vomit to prove it. AND, a surprise - strep throat as well. No wonder she has been acting sickly and fussy since Monday! Forcing down the amoxicillin for 10 days! Lucky girl.
